CCFC are on the lookout for a new Chairman...

Steve Twamley has notified us of his intention to resign from his role as Colden Common Football Club Chairman, and subsequently we are now actively looking for his replacement.

Steve has kindly offered to continue in the role for a short period until his successor is appointed and he will gladly help with the transition, imparting any knowledge he can.  After which, Steve will remain involved with the club he loves, but more in a 'helper' capacity.

If you would like to express an interest in the position or to merely have a chat about it then we would love to hear from you!  Please just make yourself known via one of our social media avenues or using the contact details on our website and we will do the rest.

Thank You Steve Twamley...

STEVE TWAMLEY returned to Colden Common FC some 17 years after he left and it was like he had never been away!!
We need to thank Angie Banford for the inspired suggestion that Steve Twamley be invited to take the Chair when long-serving legend Dave Hadfield stepped aside at the close of season 2017/18.

Steve Twamley made his Common playing debut on 1st October 1988, and he went on to make 60 1st Team appearances before calling it a day at the close of the 1992/93 campaign.  A strong and determined defender/midfielder, Steve was focused upon winning the ball and then using it with great effect; much the same as his time in the chair, sensing opportunity and grabbing it with both hands to the benefit of 'his' club.

He was Chairman of the club that his 'idol' Michael King Chaired, and Steve was focused on doing all he could to match the contribution of our sadly departed former chairman.  Steve's work ethic, desire, determination, love of The Club and willingness to contribute saw Colden Common FC move to Oakwood Park (instigated by former chairman Dave) with excitement, positivity and potential.

A dry sense of humour and a low tolerance level of 'hangers on' meant Steve was driven to get everyone at The Club provide a contribution, albeit at no cost to themselves.  Sadly in November, during these current Covid times Steve felt it necessary to 'walk away' and he effected a huge loss to The Club.  However, we would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mr. Steve Twamley for his massive contribution and work ethic, born purely out of a love for Colden Common FC.

Connor Doswell and Nath Morgan confirmed as Common’s new managers

Colden Common Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Connor Doswell and Nath Morgan as its new joint First Team Managers, effective immediately.

The pair of 27 year olds will be supported by Assistant Manager Jamie Nash, 34; Coaches Ryan Doswell, 27 and Steve ‘Bruiser’ Harrod, 63.

The managerial pairing have earned a glowing reputation and despite their perceived tender years they already have vast experience, having previously managed Alresford Town Reserves, Winchester Castle and Follands Sports.

Chairman Steve Twamley said: “This management change offers us a fresh start and, despite receiving an overwhelming number and calibre of applicants, Nath and Con quickly emerged as our ideal candidates.  I’ve actually got to know Connor recently as he lives a stone’s throw away from our ground, and he’s a smashing chap.  Very friendly and likeable, and an excellent communicator.   His enthusiasm for football is contagious and after speaking with Nath they both aligned themselves with the values and vision of the club - it was obvious that they both share the passion, work ethic and appetite for growth that we strive for in doing things the Colden Common way.

We’ve been aware of them for a good while now, and their skill set was made all the more apparent when they did the double over us!  I know Connor has been involved with running sides for about a decade now and has also coached at Winchester City FC in the Southern League.  They were both instrumental in turning around Winchester Castle’s fortunes.  Brave enough to take the helm of a club who had finished bottom the season prior, they achieved an impressive 7th place finish from their first campaign in charge.  Last year they enjoyed a 10 game unbeaten streak which helped secure the management role at Follands Sports in the Sydenhams Football League.

The standard of applicant we received for the role was hugely impressive and also humbling, for which we are truly appreciative.   But the appointment of Connor and Nath, with their support staff just feels like the perfect fit.  All of us at Common wish them every success and we’re genuinely excited for them to get going!  We feel they have a long and successful future ahead, and we’re delighted to share that pathway with them.”

Mark Ellison named as Common's new Development Team Manager

Colden Common FC have continued its backroom restructure by appointing Mark Ellison as their new Development Team Manager, starting with immediate effect.

The 51 year old co-owner of Sparks Ellison Estate Agents in Chandler’s Ford joins us with a wealth of experience.  He is a qualified and registered referee, who managed his first adult side some 25 years ago.  For the past decade he has been managing youth teams for Botley Village FC.

Mark will be supported by Assistants Mark Piper & Chris Bailey; and Coach Dan Piper (FA Level 1, 2, UEFA B, Youth Award).

Chairman Steve Twamley said “they’re a tried and tested team who enjoy working together, and we extend a warm Common welcome to them all.  We recently introduced our new first team management and were keen to ensure our Development team setup was in place too, so that we’re well prepared heading into the new season – whenever that may be!”

It was new 1st team joint-boss Connor Doswell who made the recommendation.  “Mark has been identified as the ideal man responsible for developing our young Stallions: nurturing them, and readying them for first team action” continued Chairman Twamley.  “Connor highlighted Mark as someone he would like to have come on board and run our Development side.  He gave him a glowing reference, and after speaking with him it was obvious why.  He shares the same set of values that we do here at Common and I’m confident that he’ll fit in well.  He is on the same page as us when it comes to the vision of the club and developing our youngsters”.
